Here is a taste of what we’ve accomplished over the last 45+ years. We lit up harbors, set up solar energy systems, and established cutting-edge trauma-healing programs in the Gaza Strip. To help Palestinians in refugee camps, we constructed a community center and a covered sports field in Lebanon, and equipped a sports club, and built a soccer field in Jordan. We helped farmers turn their fallow fields into lush olive groves and built a children’s library in the West Bank, equipped hospitals, and trained staff, including skilled surgeons, and brought medicines and equipment to hospitals in part or whole in Palestine and Lebanon. We built the first four-year nursing institute in Palestine, facilitated leadership trainings for youth, and helped young Palestinians throughout Palestine attend university through the Mahmoud Darwish Scholarship Fund. Alongside all this, we prepared for emergencies, and were one of the first-on-hand to provide humanitarian assistance to our people, including during the ongoing siege and bombing of Gaza. Established in 1978 by Palestinian-American professionals, UPA is a non-political, non-sectarian 501(c) (3) New York-registered non-profit organization, with headquarters in Washington, DC, and works in the occupied Palestinian territories and refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon. Our work has earned Charity Navigator’s highest rating (4 stars) for financial health, accountability, and transparency for the last eight years. UPA meets all 20 Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance standards and has earned the Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency. Check us out at http://www.upaconnect.org
